This Advent I have been busy creating a special advent calendar that many families use this time of year–The Jesse Tree. I made 31 ornaments (because there are just so many great stories I want my kids to know from the Bible, and I didn’t know which ones to leave out).
So, of course while I was making my own I just couldn’t stop there–I decided to make a pattern for all 31 ornaments and offer it to you here. And, last night I finally got all the way through formatting and drawing and taking pictures and it is finally ready to go! Go get your own 31 Jesse Tree Ornament Patterns right here! Included in the instant download are all 31 patterns, detailed instructions for making the ornaments and pictures to guide you.
And, I know what you’re thinking. It’s already Advent–pretty near Christmas. If you haven’t made your Jesse Tree Ornaments already you aren’t going to this year. BUT, as you can see by looking at the ornaments below, there is quite a bit of work involved in making these ornaments. I hand-stitched all of mine (although they could be made by gluing). I didn’t hold back on adding details to mine because I want my family not only to learn about all those leading up to Christ through these ornaments, but I want my Jesse Tree Ornaments to be a family heirloom–something the kids look forward to pulling out and using every year.
I am so happy to see my kids excited and interested in the ornaments already. This is our first year doing the Jesse Tree and it is so fun to see how much the kids learn just by looking at the ornaments. They are young, and interested in more stories than others, but they love it each evening when we light the advent candles and read about another Old Testament figure. And, really, when it comes to the lesser know characters it’s a good education for me and my husband as well!
