Thank you for taking the Family Prayer Quiz from Catholic Sprouts. It is ESSENTIAL that your family prays – and prays together! But prayer doesn’t just happen. Praying together as a family takes planning, commitment, and a whole lot of grace from God. So, great job on taking this important step!
According to the quiz, this might be the right time for the parents in your family to commit to a solo hour of Eucharistic Adoration. After all, family prayer depends on parent prayer. Consider spending a quiet hour with Jesus each week in adoration.
WHAT IS EUCHARISTIC ADORATION?
Eucharistic Adoration is a practice that involves praying in the presence of the Eucharist, also known as the Blessed Sacrament. Usually, the consecrated host is placed inside of a monstrance and exposed for the Faithful to come and worship. Eucharistic Adoration is a beautiful way to deepen your relationship with God and experience His presence.

Many parishes offer perpetual adoration. This means that the adoration chapel is always open, and someone from the parish is always there adoring Jesus. Perpetual adoration is an invitation to adore Jesus in two ways: stopping by whenever you can, or committing to a dedicated hour of adoration each week.
Based on what you shared in the Family Prayer Survey, spending 20 minutes of full family prayer in your home right now might be tough. Perhaps at this time it is best to keep family prayer short (like saying an Our Father and petitions before bed) and dedicate time instead to your personal prayer life. Consider signing up for an hour of adoration with your parish and spending that time with Jesus praying for your family.
HOW TO PRAY IN EUCHARISTIC ADORATION
Many people who first commit to an hour of Eucharistic Adoration struggle to know what to DO while there. And although I want to help you on this point, I also want you to know this: you come to Eucharistic Adoration not to do things for God, but to be with God. Therefore, don’t come with a checklist. Come instead with an open heart.
Still, even after years of keeping a weekly holy hour, I feel more relaxed and open to God when I enter with a bit of a plan for my hour. Here is what I usually do during my holy hour.
It’s simple, but it’s also very fruitful.
Over the years, I have heard from many parents who desire to keep a holy hour for their family but struggle to know what to do during it. I put together a beautiful little book called the Adoration Guide for Parents. I keep it in my purse, and it has blessed me and many others.
