Earlier this year I started to wonder how we could improve the Catholic Sprouts Podcast.
Admittedly, things are going well with the podcast. We have over 10K daily listeners and we just passed 8M downloads. Crazy!
But instead of thinking those statistics meant we should just keep on keeping on, they inspired me to do better.
With that many little souls listening, I felt deeply called to remind our audience that we aren’t just called to learn the Faith…
…we are called to BE SAINTS!
And how do we become saints? By DOING the things we speak about on the podcast.
→ By practicing the various types of prayer
→ By serving the needs of others through the corporal and spiritual works of mercy
→ By stamping out vice and striving after virtue
→ By studying Sacred Scripture while seeking a true encounter with Jesus Christ
→ By humbling ourselves before Jesus and opening ourselves up to His mercy
→ By receiving the sacraments and living in God’s grace
→ By speaking what is True in a world convinced of lies
→ By making time and space for Jesus every day
These are the things we talk about on the podcast…but we can’t just talk about them. We need to be DOING them.
This is why we started the BE A SAINT KIDS CLUB.
Each month, a different saint will challenge your children to BE A SAINT through four different challenges. These challenges are drawn directly from the saint’s life so that children might attempt to follow their example of holiness.
To support and enrich you in completing these challenges, the content on the Catholic Sprouts Podcast will provide background on each topic in the hope of inspiring you to act with a heart on fire for Christ.
One challenge each month will be to memorize a prayer. The Catholic Sprouts Podcast will help with this. We will be starting EACH PODCAST with that month’s prayer so you are able to hear it and eventually say it with us.
Once a child completes all four challenges (and their responsible adult approves), that child will earn a beautiful 2” vinyl sticker featuring that month’s saint. All 12 of the vinyl stickers will be mailed with the booklet at the time of enrollment, but we ask that a child’s responsible adult distribute each sticker only after all four challenges have been completed.
It is our hope that children place these beautiful stickers somewhere they will see them often: on their water bottle, pencil case, trapper keeper, journal or binder. This way children can be reminded of each saint’s challenges and (hopefully) continue to strive after sainthood according to this saint’s example.
Finally, although Catholic Sprouts listeners live all over the world, this is a club and that means COMMUNITY.
Since children will be the ones enrolled in this club, we have no plans to start a facebook group to build community. Instead, we challenge you to find at least one other child to be part of the club with your child. Now, don’t overthink this. Here are some simple ideas:
And, if you lead a group, we are offering 20% off the enrollment fee when you register 10 or more kids at once.
Again, enrollment is open right now and the fun starts September 1.
We really do hope that you consider joining us because we are all called to be saints!
In Christ Jesus,
Nancy
