All of Christ’s faithful are called to the virtue of chastity. Chastity allows us to love in an appropriate way everyone that we encounter. Chastity is how we honor God’s plan for our own sexuality and the sexuality of others.
Chastity is not just abstinence. In order to be chaste we must make sure that everything we do is pure, from the way we dress to our thoughts and our speech.
All people in all vocations are called to live chastely. Even married people must be governed by chastity. In the coming episodes we will be exploring the many ways that we can fail to be chaste by exploring topics like sex outside of marriage, the use of other people and divorce. In order to fully understand these topics we must remain grounded in the truth of chastity.
Our exploration of chasity comes directly out of our new book, CATHOLIC SOCIAL TEACHING FOR YOUTH. Catholic Social Teaching for Youth is not on sale yet, but will be soon. Look for the book to be on sale in May!
In the meantime, please use this Catholic Social Teaching Cheat Sheet. It outlines what the Church teaches on each topic and offers you a brief description of the beauty we should reinforce as we teach.
