The hard truth about prayer is that just going to mass and saying prayers with your family at night is NOT ENOUGH.
Yes, God loves you and sees your effort, but He is calling you to something more that He can only give you in personal, quiet time.
We all need to spend daily time in quiet prayer.
There are many reasons why Personal Prayer is so important. Here are just a few:
- God’s primary language is silence.
- God wants to know you in a personal way, and reveal Himself to us in a personal way.
- We show our love through time spent. When we refuse to spend time in personal prayer with God we are really telling Him that he isn’t that important to us.
So, how do we jump-start a personal prayer life?
Well, I suggest starting with reading scripture and using Lectio Divina to pray. Not familiar with Lectio Divina (don’t worry, it’s simple!)? And, I have a handy bookmark you can print and carry with you to help you with this wonderful form of prayer.

And finally, what can you expect from daily private prayer time? Well, you can expect God’s grace.
Of course, God’s grace can manifest itself in a million different ways, but they are all good and all infused with love because they come directly from God.
And so, sister, I encourage you to breathe new life into your personal prayer life because it is super important!!
Now please watch the next video for ideas that will help you claim and maintain your personal prayer life!
Ready to have your prayer life utterly transformed?
Well, this video will do just that with three (simple) ideas that will transform the way you think, feel, plan and live out your prayer life. I can’t wait to share these things with you!
As promised, I’d love to give you a free (beautiful!) bookmark to help you pray through scripture with the ancient practice of Lectio Divina.

Here is a brief summary of the three ideas that will transform your prayer life:
1. Don’t make it more complicated than it is!
Prayer is simply being in the presence of God, and you can do this ANYWHERE, at any time. Just do it.
2. It should be your #1 priority when you plan your day.
Think of it this way: for daily prayer, you have made a daily appointment with God and you should treat that very seriously. Never stand Him up!! There is very very little that is important enough to justify standing up to God for your daily time together.
3. Anything (and I mean anything) that stands in the way of you getting time to pray is evil.
The devil will try to distract you with all sorts of good things, but ignore him! He wants to keep you from having a good prayer life because if you do, he won’t be able to tempt you!! He will use “good” things, like laundry and cooking, and calling a friend, to keep you from your daily prayer time. Don’t let him win!
I hope you found these ideas helpful and that you really do take the plunge into DAILY, DEDICATED prayer.

Thank you for these videos on prayer. I really like that you share your expertise with others and am curious if you offer a facebook group for those of us with grown children?
Nancy Bandzuch says

Thanks for these videos…what a great reminder! I like that you take the time to offer your expertise to others. Curious if you have a facebook group for those of us whose children are grown?

Thanks, I haven’t had my prayer time yet this morning and I will. In my last confession, a priest told me to give 15 minutes a day of simple prayer (outside of family rosary or Mass) and it will change my life. Your talk was reinforcing of this.

What great advice from your priest! Prayers while on this journey!

Yes, this is a hard truth, but it is such a rewarding truth as you explain. I wish that this truth was better known. Thanks!
