Hey friend,
Imagine something for me.
How powerful it would be if a father sat down with his son for 10 minutes five times a week and discussed things like Purity, Mortification, Generosity, and Holiness.
Imagine the lessons that could be taught by a mother to her daughter if they spent an hour each Saturday sharing about Humility, Gratitude, Love, and Hope.
Just imagine.
Imagine what that time could do for your kids, your family…for you.
These past months I think we all learned that we can spend hours, days, even months in the same house as our kids.
But still, never get around to the work of actually FORMING OUR CHILDREN.
We are paralyzed by uncertainty over what to say, when, and how to say it.
However, just as many identified this problem, so many also spoke about their determination to do better!
It was beautiful to hear parent after parent acknowledges their shortcomings, but recommit themselves to the calling to raise saints.
God made us the primary teachers of our children–but even still, we need a guide for this important work.
At Catholic Sprouts we desired to create a beautiful virtue-based tool for children in that in-between age when so much of a child’s identity is formed: the years after First Holy Communion and before Confirmation.
We wanted to create something REAL and USEFUL.
Something packed with stories that brought the virtues to life.
And something full and not watered down.
Something that tied together Catholic Moral Teaching, Old Testament stories, Jesus’s example, and the common struggles with vice that we all face.
Lastly, something that gave parents the words to say.
Far more than a collection of inspirational ideas or quotes, The Virtues for Catholic Youth is a guide that transports you and your child from Vice to Virtue.
Designed to be used as an intimate study for one child and their parent in the home.
And it is in this place that God can reveal to you–and to your child–who you are.
Over the course of 12 weeks, you and your child will dig into Pride, Purity, Envy, Forgiveness, Hope, Despair, Sloth, Love, Faith and so much more.
Each week you will come to a deeper, more beautiful understanding of these vices and virtues through Church Teaching.
The example of a saint, an Old Testament story, a story from the Gospels, and a meaningful challenge.
Each week is divided into five lessons and each lesson can be accomplished in just 10 minutes or less. This structure is meant to be helpful, but we encourage families to set a schedule that works best for them. It can also be beautiful to spend an hour on a Saturday working through an entire week.
The Virtues for Catholic Youth will be officially on sale starting Wednesday.
Stay tuned for more details.
Have a beautiful week!
In Christ,
Nancy
Very true that if we do not make deliberate effort to do things, we may end up not doing them.
Thanks for sharing this, great lessons. Loved it!
