If you have been following along here much, or have snooped through my shop at all, you have probably discovered that I like working with shapes as opposed to creating a realistic picture.  Most of the cross stitch projects I did before I started designing my own were detailed images or scenes that that took a basic picture and just pixelated it (cross stitch is, after all, the first pixel art!).  And I still like those types of projects, but I really love to cross stitch lends itself to geometric shapes and patterns.  So, as I did with the Halloween cat, for these Christmas Tree cross stitch patterns I started with a Christmas Tree silhouette and added a fun and modern pattern.

I made three patterns, each inspired by color combinations that remind me of Christmas.  

The first uses red and gold–the two colors that I like to decorate with this time of year.

The next Modern Christmas Tree Cross Stitch Pattern offers a very narrow tree in the classic, shades of green.  

I like this one the best!

Because it actually looks like it might to strung with garland and have little lights burning in the branches.

I like how this tree compliments the other two.

And I also like how it pulls in the colors of winter (at least winter here).
