Rosary Quiet Book: Video Tutorials and a Simpler Version

I hit publish on my ROSARY QUIET BOOK just under two years ago.  

At the time I published the pattern I had very low expectations for it.  

I am excited for my own children to use the rosary quiet book I did. But would people really be interested in these as well?

Turns out they were.  

Hundreds of people have bought the pattern and I regularly get pictures of completed sets.  

It’s incredible.

Well, one of my 2017 goals is to revisit some of my most popular patterns, work through them, improve them, and (gulp) film a video tutorial.  

Since the Rosary Quiet Book is the project I am easily the proudest of, I started with it.  

While working my way through this pattern again I made some changes to make cutting it out easier.  

I also developed a way for putting it together that requires no stitches, calls for inexpensive materials, and no sewing machine.  

That is the method I used in the videos below.  

Because here’s the thing, I really want every mother out there that wants to be able to make a Rosary Quiet Book for their children to be able to do so.  

The method I go through below is not better than the original method that called for lots of stitching and a sewing machine.  

It’s just another option.

The first step in the creation of your Rosary Quiet Book is cutting… a whole lot of cutting.  

I recommend doing all of the cutting before you move on to the next step.  

There are a few tricks for cutting the pieces easily and with great detail.  

I made the video below to walk you through it…and a quick note.  

The first video I made is upside down.  You can still see everything that you need to, but please forgive my mistake!

And, although I really tried, my house is not a quiet place 😉

The next videos (which are not upside down!) will walk you through putting together each page in all four books.  

As you will see, the major materials I used for constructing these books are craft felt, a glue gun, ribbon, pony beads, and puff paint.  

Feel free to use the original instructions that call for lots of stitching, or the method I show below, or a blend of the two.

I got a little carried away putting together the Joyful Mysteries, so I divided it into 2 videos:

Once all of the pages are put together and the puff paint is dry, you are very close to being done.  

First off, we need to add a backing to each of our pages.  

I did this with tacky glue and some black craft felt (even at places like Walmart you can buy black felt by the yard for pretty cheap).

First off, cut 24 black squares that are slightly bigger than your finished Rosary Quiet Book Page.  

Then, use the tacky glue to glue the page to the black square.  

Finally, trim the excess black felt from all four sides.

Finally, as I did with the original Rosary Quiet Book, I used Eyelet Pliers to add eyelets to each page and then bound them with 1.5″ Book Rings.
