In this episode of the Just One Small Thing Podcast we are exploring slavery and human trafficking and why treating a person as an object and denying the freedom to direct their own life is a sin against the dignity of that human person.
A few important points made in this episode:
As with all of the Catholic Social Teaching topics, it is important that we know the truth, but that we show our children what is beautiful. Yes, slavery is bad and ugly, but that is only because freedom is so good! Teach your children what it means to be fully alive and free to choose God.
Our exploration of slavery and human trafficking comes directly out of our new book, CATHOLIC SOCIAL TEACHING FOR YOUTH. Catholic Social Teaching for Youth is not on sale yet, but will be soon. Look for the book to be on sale in May!
In the meantime, please use this Catholic Social Teaching Cheat Sheet. It outlines what the Church teaches on each topic and offers you a brief description of the beauty we should reinforce as we teach.
